One of the most followed professions in India is Engineering. People get a well-salaried job after their education but there are some who follow their passion despite what they have studied. Such talented engineers are in Bollywood as well. Indian Cinema is brimming with talent not only in acting but also in other fields. You will be surprised to know how many engineering graduates moved to Bollywood to follow their dream of becoming an actor.

Kriti Sanon

Bollywood’s talented actress Kriti Sanon holds a Bachelor of Technology degree in Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering from Jaypee Institute of Information Technology, Noida. She was born in Delhi and spent much of her life there, after her graduation she moved to Mumbai to achieve her dreams of becoming an actor. Her Bollywood debut was with Tiger Shroff in Heropanti. 

Vicky Kaushal

Like every Indian parent, Vicky Kaushal’s parents too wanted their son to be an engineer. He graduated with an engineering degree in electronics and telecommunications from Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Technology, Mumbai. He soon realized engineering is not his game and stepped into Bollywood making his debut in Masaan.

Sushant Singh Rajput

Many know late Sushant Singh Rajput had an interest in science, stars, and the universe but few are aware that he too was an engineer. Sushant ranked 7th in the AIEEE exam and was graduating from Delhi Technical University but left it in between to chase his actor’s dream. Being a phenomenal actor he left that too in the middle of his peak career when he passed away in 2020. 

Taapsee Pannu

Taapsee Pannu completed Computer Science Engineering from Guru Tegh Bahadur Institute of Technology in New Delhi. She also worked as a software engineer before realizing her interest in acting. She then took up some modeling assignments and advertisements. She moved to Bollywood after doing 12 movies down in South. 

R Madhavan

R. Madhavan stepped into the film industry after completing his engineering from Rajaram College in Kolhapur. He also holds a degree in Public Speaking from Kishinchand Chellaram College, Mumbai. The chocolate boy of Rehna Hai Tere Dil Mein is now an actor, director, writer, and producer donning all his skills in the latest biographical movie Rocketry: The Nambi Effect. 

Kartik Aaryan

Kartik Aaryan who made big with Luv Ranjan’s Pyaar Ka Punchnama pursued an engineering degree in biotechnology from D.Y. Patil College of Engineering. During graduation, he gave auditions for films and tried to get a break.

Jitendra Kumar

The TVF guy Jitendra Kumar graduated with a degree in Civil Engineering from IIT Kharagpur. He is famous for TVF web series and recently got critically acclaimed for Panchayat. He also made his big entry into Bollywood in Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan with Ayushmann Khurrana.

Ritesh Deshmukh

Ritesh Deshmukh is also an engineer turned actor. He pursued a degree in Architectural Engineering from Kamla Raheja College of Architecture in Mumbai. He practiced for a year with an overseas architectural firm. Deshmukh maintains ownership in Evolutions, an India-based architectural and interior designing firm.

Sonu Sood

Hailed as Messiah of migrants, Sonu Sood also holds an engineering degree. He graduated from Yeshwantrao Chavan College of Engineering in Nagpur. The actor-producer is a philanthropist too and works predominantly in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, and Kannada films. Before entering into movies he did modeling assignments. 

Ameesha Patel

Gadar fame Ameesha Patel studied Biogenetic Engineering in Tufts University, Massachusetts, USA. She was even a topper and got a Gold Medal in Economics. To pursue her career in acting she turned down a job offer from Morgan Stanley. She made her Bollywood debut  in 2000 film Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai opposite Hrithik Roshan.
