Filmmaker Sandeep Reddy Vanga, known for terrifying films Kabir Singh and Animal has once again sparked a discussion about Bollywood’s internal politics. In a recent interview with trade analyst Komal Nahta for Game Changers, Vanga revealed that an actor who worked in Kabir Singh faced rejection from a major production house solely because of their association with the film. While he didn’t explicitly name the actor, he simply referred to the actor who played a major part in the film.
Vanga shared that a new and “popular actor” from Kabir Singh auditioned for a role at a prominent Mumbai-based production house. However, after the audition of that popular Kabir Singh actor was told “You’ve acted in Kabir Singh, right? We are not casting you because of that.” The director expressed his disappointment, calling it unfair and an example of industry bias. He challenged the same production house to apply the same standard to A-list actors like Ranbir Kapoor, Triptii Dimri and Rashmika Mandanna with whom he has worked on Animal.

Vanga questioned why the studio had no issues collaborating with stars like Ranbir Kapoor and Triptii Dimri but allegedly held a grudge against someone from Kabir Singh. He pointed out the contradiction in their decision stating, “If you have the guts, tell Ranbir Kapoor the same thing. Don’t take Triptii Dimri, don’t take Rashmika, don’t work with Vishal Mishra, who made that song for me.”
The director also highlighted how difficult it is for newcomers to find opportunities in the industry. “This actor came from another part of the country, did a small role, got some recognition, and wanted to grow. He gave his audition with full dedication, and they told him, ‘You worked in that film, our company won’t take you.’”
