Actress and singer Bella Thorne recently revisited her brief and controversial connection with sensational singer Charlie Puth, accusing him of starting a “hate train” against her after she refused to sleep with him. The actor made the claims in a comment on an Instagram post where singer Jade Thirlwall had said she would never collaborate with Charlie again.
Responding to Jade’s statement, Bella wrote, “Yeah I mean .. he lied to the entire world about me and started a hate train. All because I wouldn’t … do the deed with him.”
Bella Thorne and Charlie Puth were briefly linked back in December 2016, soon after Bella’s breakup with actor Tyler. The two were spotted kissing in Miami and even attended the iHeartRadio Jingle Ball together, where Charlie serenaded her on stage. But just few weeks later things turned messy between them.
In a series of now-deleted tweets, Charlie had accused Bella of still being in a relationship with Tyler while getting close to him. Though he didn’t name her directly, he apologized to Tyler and wrote, “She told me she was not with him anymore. This is all news to me.”
Bella hit back at the time, writing on Twitter that she and Tyler had broken up weeks earlier. “Charlie and I AREN’T DATING. We are friends,” she wrote. “He saw an old article and got butthurt and didn’t ask me, just posted it.”
Later, in 2017, she clarified on The Jenny McCarthy Show that they only hung out a few times and she respected him as a talented artist. However, Charlie misread the situation and went public without speaking to her.
Now, Bella is engaged to producer Mark Emms while Charlie married Brooke Sansone in 2024.
