Avneet Kaur, a beloved child artist who rose to fame as a child artist through shows like Dance India Dance Lil’ Masters recently shared some disturbing experiences from her early years in the entertainment industry. Starting her career at just 8 years old, Avneet has been a part of the industry for more than a decade now. However, her journey wasn’t always smooth as we saw. In a recent interview with Hauterrfly, she revealed that she faced inappropriate touching at a young age and harsh criticism as a newcomer.
Recalling an incident from her childhood, Avneet said, “Once, during dance rehearsals, there was a spot or someone who touched here and there… at the time, I told my mother about this… then my mom told me that beta, this is bad touch, this is good touch and whatever. You have to understand that this happens. I am telling you this from back when I was eight years old. And since then, I was well prepared for such things.” This early lesson helped her navigate the challenges of the industry.
Avneet also shared a painful memory from her early acting days. She said, “There was this one incident from the time when I was struggling, and it really scared me. I was just starting out, and this director gave me a very heavy monologue with heavy words, which I had to say. Now, I was very scared, because I was 11 or 12, and I fumbled 2-3 times, which is when he switched on his mic and started speaking harshly. He said that I wasn’t capable of doing anything and that I would never succeed in this industry. He even abused me verbally.”
Despite these challenges, Avneet Kaur has carved a successful career for herself. She began with Meri Maa in 2012 and went on to star in popular TV shows like Savitri – Ek Prem Kahani and Ek Mutthi Aasmaan. Her film debut came in 2014 with Mardaani, and she recently took on lead roles in projects like Tiku Weds Sheru (2023).
