The much-anticipated Vettaiyan directed by T. J. Gnanavel, starring Thalaiva Rajinikanth, has released its latest song, ‘Manasilaayo’. Composed by the popular music director Anirudh Ravichander, the song is a mix of Tamil, Malayalam and Telugu lyrics. However, despite its catchy tune, the song has sparked debate among netizens. Some fans are voicing concerns that Anirudh only puts in his best efforts for films featuring stars like Rajinikanth and Vijay Thalapathy.
Anirudh Ravichander, a young sensation in the Indian music industry, is known for creating hit tracks that resonate with audiences. While his work on Manasilaayo has been well received, netizens have been quick to point out that his music for another latest film Devara: Part 1 is underwhelming. The music director was recently criticized after releasing the songs ‘Chuttumalle’ and ‘Daavudi’ from the Jr NTR starrer Devara, with many fans expressing disappointment over the tracks and questioning where is Anirudh’s magic. Some believe Anirudh puts more effort into composing for Rajinikanth and Vijay than for other films.
After the release of Manasilaayo, which features Rajinikanth and Manju Warrier, social media platforms were buzzing with comments. While many praised Anirudh’s music, some took to Reddit to express their frustrations. One Reddit user commented, “Anirudh never misses for Thalaivar. This song is a next level vibe” Another user sarcastically remarked, “Anirudh for others: 🦧 Anirudh composing for Rajinikanth and Vijay: 🦍.” Another fan stated, “It’s true! Anirudh always gives his 200% for Rajinikanth. This was amazing!”
Despite the criticisms, it is worth noting that Anirudh’s earlier work for Rajinikanth’s film Jailer in 2023, specifically the song ‘Hukum’, became an anthem for Rajinikanth fans and was widely praised.
Vettaiyan, produced by Lyca Productions, is an upcoming Tamil action drama. Besides Rajinikanth, the movie boasts an impressive cast, including Amitabh Bachchan, Fahadh Faasil, Rana Daggubati, Manju Warrier and others. For the first time in decades, two cinema legends Rajinikanth and Amitabh Bachchan will share the screen, which has further elevated the excitement surrounding the movie.
