For decades, Bollywood’s most iconic trio has remained unchanged – Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan and Aamir Khan. Belovingly known as the “Three Khans of Bollywood” their names alone could pull crowds to theatres which creates massive box office waves and has continued to inspire generations. While each carved his own legacy with unforgettable performances and unique charisma their collective presence defined superstardom in Indian cinema. But as time moves on, the industry evolves and as they continue to rule but now, with rising excitement around the upcoming films of Ranveer Singh, Ranbir Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal fans are beginning to wonder – could these three actors of this generation be the next defining trio of Bollywood?
The conversation recently caught fire after a Reddit user shared a post titled “Are they the new Trinity?” The timing couldn’t be more fitting. Ranveer Singh just revealed the first look of his action-drama Dhurandhar and fans praised not only his powerful presence but also the ensemble cast and gripping teaser music. Meanwhile, Ranbir Kapoor made headlines for the visual teaser of Ramayana where he plays Lord Rama in a mythological epic already stirring major buzz.
On the other hand, Vicky Kaushal has already delivered a major hit earlier this year with Chhava, where he portrayed the real-life hero Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj. The film earned ₹714.6 crore worldwide – the highest in his career so far. And it doesn’t stop there – Vicky’s next film Mahavatar sees him play Lord Parashurama, adding yet another big-budget mythological drama to his epic lineup.
Ranveer Singh, Ranbir Kapoor & Vicky: Are They Truly the New Trinity?
While the performances and upcoming projects are promising, the debate on Reddit caught mixed responses. The original post posed a simple question “Can we consider Ranbir, Vicky, Ranveer the new ‘3 Khans’?” But the responses reflected how differently audiences view stardom today.

One user commented, “Vicky lacks the aura, he is more of a Rajkumar Rao gang.” Another chimed in, “Those who gave 1 hit after 3-4 flops, that too with nationalism and religion cards. Maybe in future they can be, but for now, NO.”
A more elaborate take read “Absolutely not. Thing is with the Khans, comparing each of them always felt like comparing match sticks. Each one of them equally stood out. This so-called trinity feels so unbalanced. One of them stands out way much more than the rest. At least in my honest opinion. All good actors btw.” There were light-hearted reactions too. “I’m just glad Kartik Aryan nahi bola,” joked one fan, relieved that the actor wasn’t included in this new trio.

The Flip Side: Hope for the Future?
Not everyone disagreed with the idea. Some fans think it’s only a matter of time. One Redditor wrote, “Yeah they’ll get there bro. It’s a matter of time. Life is strange but let’s see where we are in a decade. Currently RS has some catching up to do in terms of box office performance. But I think all three have that potential.”
Still, others highlighted the lasting fanfare around the Khans. “There won’t be any superstars like the die-hard fan following the Khan Trinity have. A guy like Vicky can never achieve that. Ranveer and Ranbir have a long way to go. The craze people have for a glimpse of SRK or Salman standing outside their homes – that will never be repeated again,” shared one comment.

Looking at the careers of Ranveer Singh, Ranbir Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal, it’s clear all three have made strong marks through varied roles and bold film choices. They might not yet match the mass hysteria associated with the Khans, but they are leading a shift in Bollywood’s storytelling, stepping into genres that their predecessors rarely explored.
It may be too early to crown them as the next trio of legends. However, their growing popularity, box office reach and choice of roles suggest they’re carving out a new kind of superstardom – one that reflects the tastes of a changing audience.
Only time will tell if they rise to that unshakable pedestal. For now, they are very much in the race.
