Sunjay Kapur passed away on June 12, 2025, because of a heart attack. The 53-year-old had shared a story regarding the Air India plane crash just hours prior to his death. His funeral took place on June 19, 2025, having been delayed due to his citizenship status in the United States. During this tragic time, a video surfaced that purportedly recorded the last moments of Sunjay’s life.

The video was first shared by Ajit Nandal, a former member of the Indian Hockey Team. In the footage that circulated, reportedly filmed in the UK, a man was observed lying lifeless on the ground. The individual’s face was obscured, but according to the details provided by Ajit, it was Sunjay Kapur. The video showed the man undergoing CPR while he remained motionless. Although the authenticity of the video could not be verified, the ground appeared somewhat similar to that depicted in Sunjay’s final photograph.
Just hours before his demise, Sunjay tweeted to express his sorrow over the loss of 241 individuals from Air India 171. Shortly after, the news of his death reverberated through the community. Coincidentally, Sunjay had posted merely three days earlier about the limited time people possess in life.
Sunjay Kapur’s funeral took place seven days later on June 19, 2025, at the Lodhi Road Cremation Ground in New Delhi. The service was attended by his former spouse, Karisma Kapoor, along with their children, Kiaan and Samaira, as well as Kareena Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan. In a particularly touching moment, Kiaan was observed in tears, with Karisma attempting to comfort him, which was genuinely heart-wrenching. Sunjay’s ex-wife, Priya Sachdev, was also in attendance at the funeral and seemed completely heartbroken.
