Zeenat Aman Recalls Her First Onscreen Kiss With Shashi Kapoor: “Every Schoolgirl’s Fantasy…”

The stunning veteran actress Zeenat Aman took a nostalgic trip down memory lane as she shared a memorable scene from ‘Satyam Shivam Sundaram’ on Instagram – her first onscreen kiss with legendary actor Shashi Kapoor. In her heartfelt post, she revealed why this moment remains such a significant milestone in her film career and personal journey.

In her post, Zeenat Aman reflected on how Shashi Kapoor was “every Indian schoolgirl’s fantasy” and admitted that she too was once smitten. “With those twinkling eyes and handsome features, Shashi Kapoor was every Indian schoolgirl’s fantasy! Myself included,” she wrote. The actress recalled first seeing him perform Shakespeare in Panchgani when she was still in boarding school, adding that he had “the girls in a swoon.”

Their paths later crossed in the most unexpected way. “As my luck would have it, Shashi was a South Bombay resident and lived not too far down the road from me,” she recalled. Zeenat shared how she and her friends would go on evening walks just to catch a glimpse of him. “All we were hoping for was a glimpse of the movie star in his shorts!”

When they eventually worked together in Satyam Shivam Sundaram, it led to Zeenat Aman’s first kiss on screen. “It was a big moment in my career. It was my first on-screen kiss, and though it caused an uproar at the time, it’s actually quite chaste,” she wrote, adding that she felt no discomfort while filming it. Zeenat Aman and Shashi Kapoor starred together in multiple films like Roti, Kapda Aur Makaan and Chori Mera Kaam, developing a professional bond filled with warmth and laughter.

Zeenat ended her post with admiration for Kapoor’s legacy. “He was a warm and wonderful man,” she said, adding that seeing Prithvi Theatre continue his artistic journey is heartening.

Shashi Kapoor passed away in 2017 but his impact clearly lives on .. in art, theatre and the memories of those who worked with him.
