Bollywood actor Prateik Babbar is all set to marry actress Priya Banerjee today, on February 14, 2025. While the couple’s wedding news has created excitement, it has also sparked a family debate. Prateik’s half-brother Aarya Babbar has publicly expressed his disappointment over not being invited, this comes amid Juhi Babbar – his elder sister recently shared a completely different perspective on their bond.
In an interview, Aarya revealed, “We are not invited as a family. Babbars are not invited. I really believe we are still close. I am not understanding how this has happened.” He hinted that an external influence might have led Prateik to distance himself, stating, “I presume someone has overpowered his brain too much. He is not wanting to connect with anyone from this side of the family. He has decided not to call anyone. I give him this benefit of doubt.”
Aarya also shared his sadness over their parents being left out. “My mother is the one who made this dysfunctional family into a functional one. Even if you don’t wish to call my mother, at least dad should have been called.” He even compared the situation to a movie plot, adding, “Life is not less than a film; someone in the house is influencing him. I don’t want to think it is Prateik, and I don’t think he is like that.”
This situation comes as a surprise, especially given that Juhi Babbar recently spoke about their strong bond. In an interview with Lehren Retro, when asked about if there’s any hesitation in accepting Prateik Babbar as her young step-brother, saying, “Accepting word yeh toh hai hi nahi, kyunki Prateik mera bhai hai toh vo bhai hai! (The word ‘accepting’ doesn’t apply because Prateik is my brother, and he is my brother!).” She further emphasized, “Kya, kyu? hesitation kaise? kya? (Why, how, hesitation? What hesitation?) He is my brother, and no one in the world can change that. No one at all. He is my brother, and he will always remain my brother.”
Juhi also shared that Prateik is always a part of their celebrations. “He’s there all the time! He’s there on Diwali, Eid, birthdays—he’s always around.” Her statements paint a different picture, contradicting Aarya’s claims of distance.
This is Prateik Babbar’s second marriage after his divorce from Sanya Sagar. Despite Aarya’s disappointment, he has found a virtual way to congratulate his brother. “In a time when everything is virtual, I have decided to take a virtual route to express our love and best wishes. On behalf of our entire family, mom, dad, and Juhi, we have made a special stand-up video on my YouTube channel, BabbarSaab, titled ‘Babbar toh Shaadi Karte Rehte Hai?’ This is my lighter way of reaching out, hoping to bring a smile to his face and maybe even a little warmth to his heart. No matter what, we will always be family.”
As the wedding day nears, only time will tell whether Prateik and his family can bridge this gap or if the silence will continue.
