Why Kabir Singh-Animal Crossover Never Happened? Shahid Kapoor Breaks Silence, “Sandeep Had Come To Meet…”

Shahid Kapoor reveals that Sandeep Reddy Vanga once planned Kabir Singh’s cameo in Animal. Date issues stopped it but could Animal Park revive the idea? The actor finally spills the details.

Sometimes, the most interesting film stories are the ones that never made it to the screen. While promoting his upcoming film O’Romeo, Shahid Kapoor opened up about one such moment that has left fans buzzing. The actor revealed that director Sandeep Reddy Vanga had once considered bringing Kabir Singh into the world of Animal but the idea never materialized.

Shahid’s intense performance in Kabir Singh (2019) still remains one of the most talked-about roles of his career. So when fans started drawing comparisons between that character and Ranbir Kapoor’s role in Animal (2023) – directed by the same filmmaker, the speculation around a possible crossover had only grew stronger but it never happened.

“Sandeep had come to meet me”

In an interview with Dainik Bhaskar, Shahid confirmed that the idea was very real. He shared, “Jab Animal bhi ban rahi thi, actually Sandeep had come to meet me. He wanted one scene of Kabir to be there in that but woh ho nahi paaya.”

The actor explained that while the thought was exciting, practical issues got in the way. “Kuch dates ka issue ho gaya, koi dusra issue ho gaya. But yes, he had said that I want one scene. Phir wo hua nahi.”

So yes, Kabir Singh nearly walked into Animal but timing had other plans.

What about Animal Park?

Naturally, the big question is whether a crossover could still happen in the future, especially with sequel Animal Park being in the pipeline. Shahid kept it honest and left the decision entirely with the director. “Wo dono characters unke hain, wo duniya unki hai. Toh unke saath unko jo man mein aayega karne ke liye, wo karenge.”

In short, it’s all up to Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s vision.

Meanwhile, Shahid is gearing up for O’Romeo reuniting with his Kaminey and Hairder director Vishal Bhardwaj, which co-stars Triptii Dimri. The film also features Nana Patekar, Tamannaah Bhatia, Vikrant Massey, Avinash Tiwary and Farida Jalal is set to hit theatres on February 13.
