Varun Dhawan, the actor who is currently preparing for the release of his upcoming film Baby John which is set to hit theatres on December 25, had recently made a statement about the Union Home Minister Amit Shah during a conference, Varun Dhawan called the political leader “Hanuman of politics”. And this remark quickly caught the attention of social media and sparked widespread conversations. Now, Varun has explained the reason behind this bold statement in an exclusive interview.
Varun’s Reason Behind the Remark
Speaking about why he likened Amit Shah to Lord Hanuman, Varun Dhawan revealed that the leader’s selfless attitude and dedication to the country left a strong impression on him. During the chat with News18, Varun explained, “I feel he’s Lord Hanuman because… I had gone to a conclave to promote my upcoming film Baby John. The way he spoke… He kept India and Modi ji in the forefront in every answer. He was not promoting himself. He was not seeing if he would look good or bad for saying something. For him, the country was the priority. This is what I liked about him. He’s working towards the country’s prosperity and not towards his public image. He’s saying country first.”
Varun Dhawan’s statement received mixed reactions online with some praising his honesty and others criticizing him for expressing a political opinion. Addressing this Varun said, “Let the critics speak. I am not a political man. When I have not liked certain things, I have called them out.”

The Conference Interaction
At the Agenda AajTak conference, Varun Dhawan witnessed Amit Shah live and expressed his gratitude. During the discussion, Varun posed an interesting question to the Home Minister “What is the biggest difference between Lord Rama and Ravana?” Amit Shah responded thoughtfully, saying, “Some people decide their duty based on their self-interest, while others let their duty define their actions. Lord Rama lived by the principles of dharma, while Ravana tried to change dharma for his own interests.”
Impressed by this response, Varun added his perspective saying, “Ravana had arrogance of knowledge, while Lord Rama had knowledge of arrogance.” He concluded by expressing his respect for Amit Shah saying, “People call you the Chanakya of politics but I feel you’re like the ‘Hanuman’ of our country, selflessly serving the nation.”
