Veeru Devgan is amongst the top Fight Masters & Action Directors the Hindi Film Industry has ever produced. From directing action sequences for films including Tridev, Henna, Dancer, Dilwale, Phool Aur Kaante & many more, the multi-talented artist has also worked as an assistant director in movies like Vishwatma & Mera Pati Sirf Mera Hai and as a director in Hindustan Ki Kasam, starring his son Ajay Devgn & The Mahanayak of Bollywood, Amitabh Bachchan!
Lehren brings to you a Flashback Interview of this powerful punjabi personality, as he gets candid in a never before seen way while talking about his directorial debut, Hindustan Ki Kasam which was released back in the year 1999!
While talking about the plot of the movie, Veeru ji elaborates that Hindutan in the film’s title depicts undivided India (when Hindustan & Pakistan were one nation) & the movie is a symbol of peace & harmony amongst the 2 countries which shall promote friendship & cordial relations between the same!
Devgan describes his son Ajay’s last released film Major Saab (1998) as more of a love story between a guy & girl and calls Hindustan Ki Kasam a love story between 2 neighbouring nations. Veeru ji reveals that Amit Ji portrays the character of ‘Kabira’ in the film who in real was a part of Subash Chandra Bose’s Azad Hind Fauj, while Ajay Devgn plays the role of a Military Man’s son who is a true patriot & ready to sacrifice anything for his motherland!
While interacting with Lehren, Veeru Ji also elaborates that a fight master can direct an emotional film as he also has a heart & a great sense of understanding sentiments like other directors of the industry! Devgan Sahab recalls about his AD (assistant director) days when the latter used to work under legendary filmmakers like Manoj Kumar & Raj khosla in turn calling himself their ‘Favourite Chela’.
The fight master turned director credits his assistant Jai Singh for directing all the fight scenes of Hindustan Ki Kasam in a way which will elevate the action scheme of the movie to next level! Jai Singh is the father of Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety & Adipurush actor Sunny Singh!
