ThangalaanBoxOffice: Directed by Pa. Ranjith, the Tamil action fantasy film, “Thangalaan” was released in theatres on 15 August. Upon its release, the Tamil film opened up to extremely positive reviews from both the critics and the moviegoers who called the film, “extraordinary”. Following the positive reception, Vikram starrer, “Thangalaan” took a bumper opening at the box office, in double digits beating Dhanush’s “Raayan”.

As per Sacnilk, Vikram starrer Tamil action fantasy film, “Thangalaan” secured a double-digit opening worth ₹ 12.6 Cr. Thangalaan successfully surpassed Dhanush’s latest film, Raayan which earned Rs 13.65 crore on its first day.
Thangalaan also faced a box office clash with Sanjay Dutt starrer “Double iSmart” and Ravi Teja starrer “Mr. Bachchan”. Additionally, “Thangalaan” is expected to see further growth during the upcoming weekend (Saturday-Sunday). If all goes well, the film can easily cross the 20-25 Crore mark by the end of the weekend.

Thangalaan draws inspiration from real events, focusing on the courageous efforts of the people of KGF who defended their mines from British control. Set in the 19th century, before India’s Independence, the film delves into how the locals ingeniously resisted colonial exploitation.
