After a 12-year wait since Man of Steel (2013), DC fans were both excited and anxious about a new Superman film. But the superhero film directed by James Gunn and starring David Corenswet as Clark Kent promises to be the beginning of a new chapter in the DC Universe. As fans count down to the July 11 worldwide release, Superman first reviews are already creating buzz online and they’re largely positive.
The film had its premiere on July 7, 2025, at the TCL Chinese Theatre and early reactions suggest that this reboot could be a fresh turning point for DC Studios.

Superman marks the beginning of DCU’s Chapter One: Gods and Monsters. With a story that balances Superman’s alien roots and human upbringing which introduces a heartfelt narrative alongwith the action and humour. Featuring Rachel Brosnahan, Nicholas Hoult and more, the cast supports the vision that James Gunn has brought to life.
The ‘Superman’ first reviews visibly reflects a strong and emotional comeback for the iconic superhero. If early reactions are anything to go by, this could be the Superman film fans have been waiting for.
