Two years after Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Naga Chaitanya announced their separation, their divorce continues to be a topic of interest. With Naga Chaitanya reportedly set to marry actress Sobhita Dhulipala in December 2024, Samantha breaks silence on divorce and opened up about the challenges she faced post-divorce. In a candid interview with Galatta India, Samantha spoke about the emotional journey she has been through including the stigma associated with her separation and her separation to decision her wedding gown.
“I was called ‘second hand’, ‘used’ and…” – Samantha
Reflecting on her experience, Samantha breaks silence on divorce by addressing the societal pressures women often face. She explained, “When a woman goes through a divorce, all the shame and stigma is attached to her. I received comments like ‘second hand,’ ‘used,’ or ‘wasted life.’ It’s incredibly tough for women and families who face this.”
Things haven’t been a fairytale!
Samantha candidly shared that while the experience initially hurt she chose to embrace it rather than hide from it. “I am separated, I am divorced and things haven’t been a fairytale. But this doesn’t mean my life ends here – it begins where it ends,” she said.
Samantha on re-designing her wedding gown
A focal point of the interview was Samantha’s decision to redesign her white wedding gown. While some speculated it was an act of revenge against her ex-husband when she took that decision and now she clarified her intention to do so. “It wasn’t revenge, although it may have looked like it. It was my way of owning my story, accepting what happened and moving forward,” she explained.

Samantha also addressed the false narratives and labels she had to endure during the divorce. “Many things were said about me that were absolutely untrue. I wanted to speak out and say, ‘This is not true, let me tell you the truth’ but I held back,” she revealed.
Currently, Samantha is receiving appreciation for her performance in Citadel: Honey Bunny alongside Varun Dhawan. As she focuses on her career and personal growth, Samantha expressed excitement for the next phase of her life. “I am very happy and doing well in both life and work,” she said.
As for Naga Chaitanya, reports suggest he is preparing to tie the knot with Sobhita Dhulipala. Their wedding, expected in December 2024 has drawn significant attention, marking a new chapter in his life as well.
