Sai Pallavi Feels She Was “Miscast” In Ek Din? Junaid Khan And Aamir Khan Reacts Strongly

Sai Pallavi became more emotional behind the scenes of 'Ek Din' than fans expected. From calling herself “miscast” to Aamir Khan’s surprising reaction, the actress reveals what truly went on after watching the film.

With Ek Din finally introducing South queen Sai Pallavi to Hindi cinema, the actress recently made a surprising confession about doubting herself during the film. In a candid interaction, Sai Pallavi became part of an emotional conversation where the actress admitted she initially felt she was “miscast” for the role as Meera, even though Junaid Khan and Aamir Khan strongly disagreed with her.

The actress appeared alongside Junaid Khan in an interview shared on the Aamir Khan Talkies YouTube channel , where both stars opened up about the making of the romantic drama. Directed by Sunil Pandey, the film stars Junaid Khan and Sai Pallavi in lead roles and released on May 1, 2026.

Why Sai Pallavi Said Yes To The Film ‘Ek Din’

During the conversation, Junaid revealed that he initially thought Sai might reject the film because she had already worked in several big South Indian projects. But Sai explained that it was never about the scale of the film for her.

She shared, “It is not about the scale of a film that drives me. At that point of time in my life, I had done a lot of films which were heavy and I wanted to do something that was light… that did not have me carry a lot of trauma through the making and even after.”

Sai also revealed that the script reminded her of the Hollywood classic Before Sunrise. “Because I like Before Sunrise and I thought this is going to be like that,” she added.

“I Thought I Was A Miscast”

However, Sai later admitted that she constantly questioned whether she truly fit the character and she once again became a talking point when she recalled her reaction after watching the film with Aamir Khan.

“I was very scared, because I think I’m extra serious when it comes to a few scenes which should’ve been done a little more easy and I thought I was a miscast,” she said.

Junaid immediately interrupted her and replied, “You’re absolutely wrong!”

Sai further recalled Aamir Khan’s reaction after the screening. “When I watched the movie with Aamir sir, I was just quiet for a while and he kept looking at me and said, ‘Say something.’ And I said, ‘I don’t think I was meant to do this, I think I’m a miscast,’ and he’s like, ‘What are you saying!’”

Explaining why she felt that way, Sai said, “I think it should’ve been a new person who had little bit of flamboyance. I think someone else was meant to do this film.”

Junaid Khan Couldn’t Stop Praising Her

Junaid, however, completely disagreed with her thoughts. He even revealed that he and Aamir Khan were on the same page about her performance. “Not a chance, I fight with papa all the time for everything but over here I agree with him,” he said. He further praised her acting and added, “When I saw the film for checking subtitles without background music and sound, only dialogue track and you were just spectacular!”

Sai Pallavi’s honesty about self-doubt has once again shown why audiences connect with her so deeply. Even after years of success, the actress openly spoke about her fears and insecurities. But going by Junaid Khan and Aamir Khan’s reactions, it seems the makers always believed she was the perfect choice for the role.
