February has already begun, bringing in the season of love, emerging all into the air. Now as people get ready to prepare the valentines’ dayout , bollywood is getting ready to bring out the best of its work on the theatres. As the Valentine week begins from 7th January onwards, Natioal Film Archive of India is re-releasing the retro classics under the National Film Heritage Mission, for viewers to delve deeper into the long-lost memories of the past, and enjoy the story of love, relationships, friendship featuring the biggest stars of the Indian cinema.
Cult Classics Re-releasing In Valentine’s Week
The yesteryear cult classics of Bollywood are set to re-release on the big screens with its restored 4K version by the National Film Archive of India under the National Film Heritage Mission. From Amitabh Bachchan and Rekha’s unmatched love story on-screen, to late actress Sridevi’s magnificent aura – fans will be mesmerized by all of it. SILSILA
Amitabh Bachchan’s evergreen film Silsila is re-releasing on February 7th, 2025. The beautiful chemistry of Amitabh and Rekha will delight the audience on-screen right from the first day of the Valentine’s week. Yash Chopra directorial Silsila, also starred Jaya Bachchan and Shashi Kapoor in prominent roles. Some of the popular songs of the film, that have forever been cherished by the fans are ‘Dekha Ek Khwab’, and ‘Yeh Kahan Aa Gayer Hum’, which were composed by Shiv Hari.
CHANDNI
Next would be late actress Sridevi’s movie ‘Chandni’. This movie is set to hit the theatres right on the 14th of February, the day of love. While the film was the third-highest grossing film of 1989, this Yash Chopra directorial was widely loved by fans and critics alike, for the charming performnace by Sridevi. The performance as portrayed by Vinod Khanna and Rishi Kapoor was also massive, and makers behind the movie are still confident of Chandni to receive immense love, even upon its re-release.
AWARA
Raj Kapoor’s film ‘Awara’ will kick into the theatres on 14th February, Valentine’s Day. However, the film will be released in the PVR-Inox cinemas only on February 21st onwards. Awara is bound to be one of the highly rated film during its time, which starred Raj Kapoor, Prithviaj Kapoor and Nargis in eminent roles.
ARADHANA
What comes next is Rajesh Khanna,’s masterpiece ‘Aradhana’. The evergreen star of Bollywood will come with this beautiful film in theatres on February 28. ‘Aradhana’ has been restored in stunning 4K by NFDC–National Film Archive of India under the National Film Heritage Mission.
Besides this, bollywood film Sanam Teri Kasam, will also be re-released on February 7th marking a beginning of the valentine week. Recently Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Padamavat’ re-released on the theatres, on January 24th, enlightening the audience with the best the Indian cinema holds.
