Ponniyin Selvan is undoubtedly a much-awaited film being larger than life film, high on VFX, budget, and more. The magnum opus directed by Mani Ratnam is a two-part film and to everyone’s surprise both the parts of the historical epic action drama Ponniyin Selvan were shot in a total of 150 days.

PS 1 Ponniyin Selvan is an official adaptation of a historical fiction novel in the same name. Ponniyin Selvan novel is written by Kalki Krishnamurthy in Tamil. Though PS has been in the making for three years, the filming part of both parts was completed in just 150 days. This shocked Bahubali’s director SS Rajamouli.

Jayam Ravi spilled this information in one of his interviews. He revealed SS Rajamouli’s reaction on learning Mani Ratnam pulled off such magnum opus films in just 150 days. The RRR director couldn’t believe it and was surprised too as he finished the Bahubali series in five years.

Jayam Ravi said, “I told Rajamouli sir that we have finished two parts of Ponniyin Selvan in 150 days. So, Rajamouli sir got up from his chair and said Ravi don’t say this and scare me, please. It took five years for me to shoot both films (Baahubali). That’s the respect he has for Mani sir. He later sat down and asked, ‘How do you work?’ He is learning from the master.”
