Kannada actor Darshan Thoogudeepa will remain in jail for an additional two days after a Bengaluru court extended his police custody until June 22. He is under investigation in connection with the Renuka Swamy murder case and was arrested by Karnataka police on June 11. Initially, he was placed in a 6-day police custody.

Renuka Swamy’s Murder Case
Renuka Swamy, whose body was discovered at Sumanahalli Bridge in Bengaluru on June 8, 2024, was reportedly employed at an Apollo Pharmacy branch in Chitradurga. According to reports, Swamy had allegedly sent inappropriate messages to Kannada actress Pavithra Gowda, who is a friend of Darshan.
This purportedly led to Swamy’s murder, with his body allegedly disposed of in a canal in Kamaksshipalya, Bengaluru, allegedly in Darshan’s presence. Eight individuals involved in the incident have reportedly accused Darshan of being present during Swamy’s assault.

Actor Darshan Paid Off To Destroy Evidence
Darshan allegedly paid four men to take the blame, offering ₹5 lakh each for false confessions and jail time, and ₹30 lakh to Pradosh for disposing of the body. However, during interrogation, these men revealed the actors’ involvement in the crime.
Darshan’s Wife Vijayalakshmi Breaks Silence On Murder Case
On Wednesday (June 19), a Bengaluru court issued an order preventing the media from publishing any defamatory news about Darshan. According to Live Law, the court prohibited reporters, anchors, or any other individuals associated with the media from printing, publishing, or broadcasting defamatory statements against Darshan, his wife Vijayalakshmi, or their family.
