Bollywood has always been full of rumoured link-ups, and one such story was of Padmini Kapila and Navin Nischol’s from the late 70s and early 80s. The actress who charmed audiences with films like Shaan, Woh Main Nahin, Dera Aashqan Da and Intezaar, her teenage glow made her stand out, but just as she was gaining popularity, her career graph went on to take a dip due to wrong choices in career and personal controversies. One of the most talked-about was her alleged involvement with superstar Navin Nischol, who at the time was married to Neelima, a filmmaker Shekhar Kapur’s sister.
The Rumours Of Love
For years, gossip columns suggested that Padmini was responsible for creating trouble in Navin’s marriage. And as last year, she admitted falling for him but now she has clarified what really happened. Recalling those years, she shared how as a 17-year-old she was captivated by Navin’s charm. “He used to sit behind the camera and watch, so what is one do you’re too young actually it’s not love, love. I felt on he’s such a big star and he’s so much in awe of me, keeps watching me and all that, so it was that nothing else!”

When asked if her presence created ripples in Navin’s marriage, Padmini firmly responded, “No, not really.” She went on to add that the marriage broke apart due to Navin’s own choices. “Not only me, he’s not there one shouldn’t talk about it but he was involved with friend’s wife that was the turning point.” When further pressed if she was the catalyst, she immediately said, “No no, not at all. So, don’t blame me!”
