Two-time Oscar – winner Gene Hackman and his wife Betsy Arakawa have been found dead in their home in Mexico, US. Santa Fe’s Sheriff – Adan Mendoza confirmed the couple’s death shortly after midnight on Thursday, stating that the two were discovered inside the house with their pet dog, who was also seen dead.
The sheriff also mentioned that the case is under investigation, as he quoted, “We can confirm that both Gene Hackman and his wife were found dead Wednesday afternoon at their residence on Sunset Trail. This is an active investigation – however, at this time we do not believe that foul play was a factor,”

However, there was no clarity given on the cause or the time of the death. So far, the statement reveals, “All I can say is that we’re in the middle of a preliminary death investigation, waiting on approval of a search warrant”
Much celebrated actor Hackman played more than 100 roles including Lex Luthor in Superman movies in the 1970s and 1980s. He also starred in the hit movies Runaway Jury, The Conversation, as well as Wes Anderson’s The Royal Tenenbaums.
