The Mumbai-based franchise registered their first win in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 against Kolkata on Wednesday night. Mumbai skipper Rohit Sharma was named the man of the match for scoring a fiery knock 80 off 54 deliveries. After registering their first won, Rohit Sharma was all smiles after Mumbai’s maiden win.

The Mumbai skipper said, “It was all about how we executed our plans today, we were in good positions and it was all about being ruthless.” Rohit further adds that the wicket was good and his team took advantage of the same.

Spilling beans on his brilliant knock, Sharma said lately, he is practising pull shots in the nets. The right-hand batsman further mentioned that he wishes to spend more time on the crease during the middle over of the games, which wasn’t able to during Mumbai’s first outing against Chennai. However, he is glad that he did it in this game.

Rohit Sharma further confesses that they has planned a pace attack for Wankhede, but the COVID-19 pandemic spoiled their plans.

The 33-year old batsman then praised his bowlers- Trent Boult and James Pattinson for their brilliant performance instead of joining the team late.

Rohit Sharma hopes Mumbai’s win will inspire his teammates to put in more effort.

On the other hand, Kolkata skipper Dinesh Kartik feels that his team needs improvement in all aspects and areas.

In the post-match presentation, Kartik called their outing with Mumbai as ‘Rusty day.’

The Kolkata captain believes that his team needs more time to get friendly with the conditions in UAE.

The 13th season of the IPL is in the UAE, as there has been a spike in the COVID-19 cases in India.

Speaking of the next matches, Mumbai will lock horns with Bangalore on September 28. Kolkata will face Hyderabad on September 26.
