During a sincere discussion with the host, Nawazuddin Siddiqui provides insights into his early life challenges, personal growth, and relationships with colleagues. He discusses the difficulties he encountered on his path to becoming a successful actor and reflects on the significant life lessons he has gained over time. Furthermore, he sheds light on the complex roles he portrays, his connection to them, and the impact they have on him off-camera. Nawazuddin also shares about the special connection he has with his children, giving a heartfelt glimpse into his experience as a father.
Nawazuddin reflects on his early life challenges, stating that he faced a 10-year struggle before entering Bollywood. While studying at the National School of Drama, he undertook diverse roles and gained significant insights. His shift from being a theatre artist to the big screen emphasized the importance of cultivating a profound admiration for any form of art, particularly cinema, to truly love it.
When discussing his father, Nawazuddin emphasizes the close bond with his father. “Growing up in a farming family, I grasped the importance of hard work at a young age. Since I was 14, I would wake up early to assist my father. When I left for higher education, he went to great lengths, carrying groceries on his shoulders and changing multiple buses, just to visit me and provide for my needs. It was only after he passed away that I truly understood and valued his sacrifices. His hardships and his absence have always driven me to fill the void and pursue his aspirations.”
He adds, “Due to my work, I haven’t always been present to witness my children’s consistent growth, but I’m grateful that we can arrange meetings at our convenience. My 14-year-old daughter is currently pursuing a career in cinema. She simply informs me of her decisions without needing to seek my approval. As a father, it’s comforting to see my children making independent decisions. ” Speaking about his relationship with director Anurag Kashyap, Nawazuddin shares, “Anurag is like an older brother to me. He provides me with unwavering support and always intervenes when my performance doesn’t meet the expected standard.”
Nawazuddin expresses, “My connection with Vijay Raaz and Rajpal Yadav is really strong, and I shared a deep friendship with Irrfan Khan. We are close friends who rejoice in triumphs and openly discuss our limitations. I cannot recall ever feeling envious or harboring any resentment towards them.”
