The much-anticipated film Mere Husband Ki Biwi, featuring Arjun Kapoor, Bhumi Pednekar, and Rakul Preet Singh, was released in theaters on Friday. Unfortunately, the film’s opening day box office performance was disappointing, as it could not stand up to the expectations. The audience seemed interested by the trailer, songs and also appeared excited in the promotional campaigns, however the opening day box office collection was not too low.

Mere Husband Ki Biwi Box Office Collection Day 1
According to the reports by Sacnilk, Mere Husband Ki Biwi started with ₹ 1.5 Cr only. This performance is on par with the recent release Azaad, which also made Rs 1.5 crore on its opening day and was subsequently declared a flop within a week. In contrast, the Kangana Ranaut-starrer Emergency had a stronger opening, earning Rs 2.5 crore, and ultimately grossed Rs 18.35 crore during its theatrical run.
Mere Husband Ki Biwi has turned out to be one of the weakest Bollywood openers of the year. The only mainstream Hindi film to earn less on its opening day was Loveyapa, starring Khushi Kapoor and Junaid Khan, which made only Rs 1.15 crore.
Directed by Mudassar Aziz, who previously directed Khel Khel Mein featuring Akshay Kumar, Mere Husband Ki Biwi was expected to be a significant film for Arjun Kapoor, known for his roles in 2 States and Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar. There were high hopes for his career as he gained immense popularity from his role in Singham Again, which featured top bollywood stars like Ajay Devgn, Kareena Kapoor, Akshay Kumar, Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone, and Tiger Shroff.
Despite those expectations, Mere Husband Ki Biwi has not lived up to its potential. Bhumi Pednekar, who has appeared in films like Afwaah, Bheed, Raksha Bandhan, and Badhaai Do, has also faced a series of box office disappointments.
