Bollywood’s celebrated designer Manish Malhotra and actress Priyanka Chopra share an unbreakable bond today. From styling her for major events to designing her wedding outfits, their collaboration has always been remarkable. However, not many know that their first professional collaboration during Dostana (2008) didn’t go smoothly. In an interview with Lehren Retro, Priyanka Chopra’s mother Dr. Madhu Chopra was asked about a shocking and unheard incident from those days.
Talking about how Manish Malhotra initially found it difficult to work with Priyanka Chopra on Dostana and their bond remained strained throughout the film’s shoot, leading to an awkward moment on the last day of filming. On the wrap-up day of Dostana, Karan Johar, the film’s producer invited Manish Malhotra to the celebration party. While responding to Karan, Manish accidentally sent a message to Priyanka instead of Karan saying, “Thank God it’s the last day of working with her.”
And further Priyanka read the message, and it made her so deeply hurt that she started crying. Realizing his mistake, Manish immediately approached her to clear the air. But guess what, instead of holding grudges and turning into enemies Priyanka handled the situation maturely. She spoke to Manish and resolved their differences that day itself. Now, here they are – from that moment on their professional relationship turned into a strong friendship which remains intact to this day.
While indulging in Priyanka’s nature of binding things together, her mother Dr. Madhu Chopra expressed her pride in Priyanka’s ability to build and maintain relationships, who continues to share great bonds with her co-actors and industry friends. Her warmth and ability to mend relationships have been her strengths since childhood.
