The Padma Awards 2026 turned out to be a memorable occasion for the entertainment industry, with several celebrated names receiving one of India’s highest civilian honours from President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi.

Among the biggest highlights was Malayalam cinema legend Mammootty receiving the Padma Bhushan. Having previously received the Padma Shri in 1998, the veteran actor added another milestone to a career that continues to inspire audiences across generations.

Singer Alka Yagnik was also honoured with the Padma Bhushan for her immense contribution to Indian music. Her songs have remained part of people’s lives for decades, making the recognition a special moment for her fans.

R Madhavan And Satish Shah Honoured

Actor R Madhavan received the Padma Shri for his contribution to Indian cinema. Over the years, he has built a strong presence across Hindi, Tamil and international projects, earning appreciation for his versatility as an actor and filmmaker.

An emotional moment came when the late Satish Shah was posthumously awarded the Padma Shri. His cousin, Arvind Mamania, accepted the honour on his behalf. Speaking about the recognition, he shared, “We wished the honour would come earlier, when he was alive but nonetheless we cannot change what has happened.”

Satish Shah was recognised for his contribution to Indian cinema and television, where he entertained audiences for several decades.

Sports Stars Also Receive Recognition

The ceremony also celebrated achievements in sports. Indian cricket captain Rohit Sharma received the Padma Shri for his contribution to cricket and his remarkable journey spanning nearly two decades.

Indian women’s cricket captain Harmanpreet Kaur was also among the sportspersons honoured, reflecting the growing recognition of Indian women’s cricket on the national stage.
