The legendary singer Udit Narayan’s lip kiss video at a live show recently caused a major outrage online after it resurfaced online, sparking controversy. The clip which is said to be two years old, led to mixed reactions from fans and celebrities. WHile many criticized him, some chose to stay silent. However, now the veteran actress Kunickaa Sadanand has openly shared her perspective and defended the singer saying “girls also came forward.”
Kunickaa Sadanand on Udit Narayan’s Lip Kiss Controversy
In a recent interview with Hindi Rush, Kunickaa Sadanand was asked about singers performing live and the admiration they receive from fans. She agreed that such moments have happened before saying, “Of course.” When the interviewer clarified that they were referring to Udit Narayan’s lip kiss controversy she responded, “Udit Narayan ji ne kiss kiya vo toh theek hai, par galat jagah kiya gaal par kar dete (It’s okay that Udit Narayan kissed, but he should have done it on the cheek instead)”
She further questioned why only Udit Narayan was being blamed when the women involved also played a part. She said, “Ladkiya bhi toh aayi saamne, apne kyo aadmi ko blame kar diya. Agar apki thali mein laddu saj ke aaye toh ap khayege nahi? (The girls also came forward, so why blame only the man? If sweets are served on your plate, won’t you eat them?)”
Kunickaa acknowledged that her opinion might not sit well with many saying, “Bahut saari aurate mujhe trash karegi, troll karegi, ‘What is she saying?’ Ap aadmi ko kyo blame kar rahe ho, aap khud bhi toh dekho ap kya kar rahe ho (Many women will trash and troll me, saying, ‘What is she saying?’ But why blame only the man? Look at what you are doing as well”. She emphasized that admiration and fan moments are a reality in the entertainment world and if the woman involved did not object at the time, it should not be seen as one-sided misconduct.
Was the Video Resurfaced with any Agenda?
Adding another layer to the discussion, Kunickaa suggested that the video may have been deliberately brought back into the spotlight. She mentioned that some reports suggested Udit Narayan was about to receive a prestigious honour like the Padma Bhushan and this controversy could have been reignited on purpose.
