The recent burglary at Saif Ali Khan’s house in January left many concerned, especially after reports confirmed that the intruder was armed. While Saif is still recovering from the experience his brother-in-law Kunal Khemu recently spoke about a similar event that took place 14 years ago at Soha Ali Khan’s home.
In an interview, Kunal Khemu revealed that back in 2011 Soha’s apartment in Khar was also targeted by a burglar at the time when Kunal and Soha were still dating and he happened to be at her house when the break-in occurred. Unlike Saif’s situation, where the intruder managed to escape, Kunal was able to catch the thief and hand him over to the police.
Kunal Khemu Shares His Experience
Speaking about the incident, Kunal said, “Unfortunately, I was in a similar situation about 12 years ago when there was a break-in at Soha’s house, and I was there. And again, there was a burglary. I happened to wake up in time to fight the guy, catch him, and take him to the police station.” He further explained how he and Soha heard strange noises that night, which made him check the apartment. As soon as he saw the intruder trying to flee, he acted quickly and chased him down. The burglar lost his balance while running, giving Kunal the opportunity to overpower him. Unlike Saif Ali Khan’s recent case, where the attacker managed to inflict injuries, Kunal’s quick reaction ensured no harm was done.

Safety Concerns and Lessons Learned
Reflecting on safety in Mumbai, Kunal stated, “These are those one or two incidents that will happen. We have to be careful. You can’t say the city is completely safe, so we must protect ourselves and our families.” Regarding Saif Ali Khan’s attack, Kunal pointed out that the burglar might not have even known whose house he was entering. “It was a burglary that went wrong, and I don’t know what led him to attack in such a manner,” he added.
