Veteran actress Kiran Joneja, the wife of legendary ‘Sholay’ director Ramesh Sippy has finally addressed the long-standing buzz surrounding their marriage. Known for her iconic roles in Buniyaad and Mahabharat, Kiran was asked in a recent exclusive interview with Lehren Retro about her relationship with the legendary Sholay director Ramesh Sippy who was not only 17 years older than her but also previously married with three children.
When asked whether she hesitated to marry a man who had already been married and had children, Kiran responded with clarity and confidence saying “Nahi, married ka hota agar if I was the homebreaker but I already knew what the situation was so it’s not like I broke a home. Toh I was ok with that.”
Her statement directly confronts speculation that she had a hand in breaking up a home, something she clearly denies. Kiran made it clear that she had full knowledge of Ramesh’s personal life and was comfortable with the reality.
Addressing the 17-year age difference, Kiran shared that it wasn’t a concern for her. She explained, “That was not my worry but I’ve always got a long better with older people somehow. Men or women, I don’t know maybe I was too mature for my age kya tha. Young mere age ke boys mujhe na, matlab mentally tuning hi nahi hoti thi. So, he was little… much older but I didn’t feel anything.”
According to Kiran Joneja, she always connected more with older people and even during her younger years, she found it difficult to relate to men her own age.
