In an exclusive chat with Lehren, Bhojpuri’s beloved phenomenon Khesari Lal Yadav opened up about his teenage years and his despite to build a shining career, a topic that left him very emotional during the interview. Starting off as a singer, his talent extended to modeling, striking roles in cinema, and captivating dance moves. He has not only worked in Bhojpuri but also appeared in Hindi, Awadhi, and Haryanvi films.
Khesari went through significant struggles to become the ‘Jaan’ of the public. No matter what, fans praise and support him for his work. The actor shared how he was raised in a different family’s house, with his father working as a hawker selling ‘chana’ on the streets. He recalled borrowing 10 to 15 thousand rupees from his father’s hard-earned money to release music cassettes. Watching his father’s sacrifices, he couldn’t bear to see him work so hard, so he began selling the famous dish ‘Litti Chokha’ on the streets even after one of his albums became a hit.
Yadav also reminisced about growing up in a low-income family with two older brothers. He shared how his elder brother’s jeans would be passed down to his second brother, and then to him, that despite being in poor condition. The poverty he experienced was truly heart-wrenching.
Driven by determination, Khesari made a place among his fans. Even after entering the army, he realized his true passion lay elsewhere. He left the army and created stirring music for the military to inspire them to fight strongly and against neighboring countries, breaking boundaries and becoming a superstar.
After releasing several albums, he met a big Bhojpuri star, who pushed him away when he tried to touch his feet. Despite such criticism and worst moments, Khesari used them as motivation, working hard to become the superstar he is today.
