‘Kalki 2898 AD’ continues to roar at the box office for two weeks straight without any interruptions. Though it is now facing competition from ‘Indian 2’, ‘Kill’, ‘Sarfira’ and other recently released films, Nag Ashwin’s directorial is still managing to break records one after another. From earning almost ₹200 crore on its opening day, and a whopping ₹500 crore in just four days, it has now crossed a majestic ₹1000 crore globally since its release.
According to Sacnilk reports, the Prabhas-starrer has surpassed the domestic collection of Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Pathaan’ and Sunny Deol’s ‘Gadar 2’ by earning a total of ₹543.45 crore in India. Last year, SRK’s film minted ₹543.05 crore and Gadar 2 bagged ₹525.45 crore net respectively. Additionally, it still runs behind Ranbir Kapoor starrer ‘Animal’ in the Indian market, which grabbed ₹556.36 crore.
A day ago, trade analyst Ramesh Bala surprised moviegoers by revealing the elated news of ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ crossing the massive ₹1000 crore mark at the worldwide box office. Before that, production house Vyjayanthi Movies shared on social media that this epic dystopian sci-fi flick had minted ₹900 crore, with the exact figure being ₹945 crore.
Talking about Kalki 2898 AD’s 15th-day gross, the film collected ₹6.7 crore, with the Hindi version contributing ₹4 crore, while the original Telugu version grossed ₹1.65 crore.
Leaving fans eagerly anticipating the sequel, ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ featured an epic face-off between Lord Ashwathama (Amitabh Bachchan) and Bhairava (Prabhas), who left fans stunned as he plays Lord Karnan in the sequel. The magnum opus also stars Kamal Haasan, whose more extravagant appearance will be seen in the next part. The cast includes Deepika Padukone, Shobana, Brahmanandam, Disha Patani, Anna Ben, Pasupathy, with surprising cameos from Vijay Deverakonda, Dulquer Salmaan, Ram Gopal Varma, SS Rajamouli, Mrunal Thakur and more.
