John Mulaney Reveals Olivia Munn & Their Kids Received Threat Messages Following Ms. Rachel’s Controversy

John Mulaney defends Olivia Munn after violent threats follow her Ms. Rachel comments. Read his full strong statement shared on his Instagram story.

American actress Olivia Munn recently faced a lot of criticism after sharing her honest thoughts about children’s shows, where she especially highlighted about the videos of famous toddlers’ educational YouTuber Ms. Rachel. She mentioned in People magazine interview that she doesn’t allow her kids to watch these shows because they drive her “crazy”. What started as a small parenting opinion quickly grew into a much larger controversy, leading to audience sharing their unexpected reactions. The situation worsened when some people began sending violent and threatening messages to Olivia and her kids.

Stepping forward to protect his wife and children, actor John Mulaney took to his Instagram story to share his side. He addressed how the situation has gotten out of hand. He wrote, “An innocent comment my wife Olivia Munn made about what children’s programs we like has somehow – unbelievably been – conflated with not caring about the deaths of children in Gaza.”

John continued, “Because of this, my wife and my two kids are now receiving violent and threatening comments and messages in her DMs. This is absolutely insane and needs to stop. The people doing this are so wildly out of line and so unhelpful to any conversation.” In his final note, John added, “You took a nothing comment to a dark and dangerous place. This kind of behaviour isn’t activism.”

While Olivia earlier clarified that her comments were never meant to hurt anyone, John’s statement highlights how quickly things can turn toxic online. What began as a simple parenting choice has now led to threats against their entire family.

Meanwhile, Ms. Rachel herself responded with a much calmer tone. Sharing some coverage screenshots on Instagram, she wrote, “WHO CARES?! I’d rather you cover me advocating for kids in Gaza who are literally starving, the largest cohort of child amputees in modern history, thousands & thousands killed – no medical care, no education, no homes do better!!!” She also made it clear that she wasn’t upset with Olivia personally, adding, “Not against her at all and don’t care that she doesn’t want to watch the show – all my love to her and her family – disappointed in the outlets.”
