Country star Jelly Roll recently shared a memorable moment from the 2024 Grammy Awards where he met Taylor Swift, leaving him completely starstruck. During a conversation with People, the 39-year-old singer revealed the surprising connection he shares with Taylor and how it made the encounter even more special.
Jelly Roll explained that he feels a deep connection to Nashville, his hometown and was eager to share a story with Taylor about a playground in Hendersonville, Tennessee. “Taylor lived in Hendersonville for a while, and she had bought a playground. I used to push [my daughter,] Bailee, on that swingset that Taylor donated to Hendersonville. I wanted to tell her that when I met her, but I was so nervous I couldn’t even remember what swingset it was,” he said.

However, the nerves got the best of him when he finally met her. “I’m looking at Taylor Swift and I have a reason to explain to her why I like her so much, and I’m going, ‘You built the swingset somewhere, my daughter, I pushed her on it.’ I did so bad!” he admitted, laughing about how he fumbled the moment.
Jelly Roll’s wife, Bunnie XO, captured the encounter on TikTok, showing Swift approaching the country artist for a brief chat and a hug. “My wife said, ‘I think Taylor’s coming over to holler at you’. It was like the Red Sea parted for her,” he recalled, describing the surreal moment when Swift made her way to him.

While the initial meeting didn’t go as planned, Jelly Roll remains thrilled about the interaction. Both he and Taylor are nominated for awards at the 2025 Grammys which could give him another chance to redeem himself.
