“I Wanted To Kidnap Shah Rukh Khan!”: Actress Kunickaa Sadanand Recalls Working With Him In ‘Koyla’

Shah Rukh Khan! – The man who needs no introduction, his presence on screen is nothing short of magic. From his charming romantic roles to his unmatched charisma, he continues to win hearts worldwide. While fans admire him endlessly, many of his colleagues from the industry have also shared their admiration over the time. Recently, veteran actress Kunickaa Sadanand opened up about her experience working with him in Koyla (1997), even admitting that she once told him she wanted to kidnap him!

Kunickaa Sadanand’s Admiration for SRK

Kunickaa Sadanand, who made a mark in the industry with her versatile roles in the 90s, starred once alongside Shah Rukh Khan in Koyla. During the recent conversation with Hindi Rush, she was asked if she found him as hardworking as he is often described. She responded, “Konsa actor hai jo hardworking nahi karte? He’s very hardworking (Which actor doesn’t work hard? He is very hardworking).” She further expressed how deeply she admires SRK, especially for his romantic persona. “Mera jo romantic pratibhimb hai, mere liye vo hai (He is my reflection of romance).” She added, “For me, romance personifies Shah Rukh Khan and Shah Rukh Khan personifies romance! I love him!”

The Day Kunickaa Sadanand Wanted to Kidnap Shah Rukh Khan

Recalling a memorable moment from the last day of Koyla’s shoot, the veteran actress revealed that she once jokingly told Shah Rukh Khan she wanted to kidnap him. “Maine toh ek bar bola bhi tha unko, ‘Mujhe aapko ek din kidnap karna hai’ (I once told him, ‘I want to kidnap you one day’).” To which he casually responded, “‘Karlo na, kab karogi?’ (Go ahead, when will you do it?).”

She concluded by emphasizing the importance of hard work in the industry saying, “Hamari industry mein sirf hardworking chalenge, hardly working nahi chalenge! (Only hardworking people will succeed in our industry, not those who hardly work!).”

Although Koyla was an average success at the box office, it went on to become a cult classic which marks as the last collaboration between Shah Rukh Khan and director Rakesh Roshan. And Kunickaa Sadanand is known for her roles in Hum Saath-Saath Hain, Dhaal, Gumrah, Mr. India, Kismat to name a few who continues to be admired for her impactful performances.
