Actor Prateik Babbar recently married actress Priya Banerjee in a private ceremony on February 14. While the couple’s wedding was an intimate affair, it was the absence of Prateik’s father veteran actor Raj Babbar and his step-siblings Aarya Babbar and Juhi Babbar that caught attention with whom Prateik is very close to. Their absence raised speculation about underlying tensions in the family with Aarya and Juhi later addressing the situation.
Aarya Babbar Speaks Out on Family Rift
In a recent interview, Aarya Babbar openly shared his thoughts on Prateik’s decision to exclude his father from the wedding. He admitted that family differences may have played a role in this but he was most concerned about how their father felt. “Not inviting Papa – his own father – how could he do that? Papa is deeply hurt,” Aarya expressed.
He further reflected on their late mother Smita Patil and how she must have felt about this situation. “Prateik has always loved and respected his mother. But by doing this, he may have hurt her memory as well,” he added. Despite this his disappointment, Aarya made it clear that there was no bad blood from his side, stating that Prateik has always been welcome in their family no matter what. Adding on, Aarya also acknowledged Prateik’s talent saying, “I always believed he had the potential to be as successful as Ranbir Kapoor. But somewhere, I feel he is being influenced by the wrong people.”

Juhi Babbar Calls for Understanding
Juhi Babbar also addressed the matter, acknowledging Aarya’s disappointment while emphasizing that their brotherly bond remains unchanged. “Aarya is hurt, just like everyone else. When someone is hurt, they have the right to express their feelings,” Juhi said.
She praised Priya Banerjee, calling her a “wonderful girl” and expressing happiness for Prateik. However, she hinted at external influences affecting his relationship with the family. “Right now, Prateik is surrounded by people who may be influencing his decisions. But this isn’t about Priya or us—it’s about someone else trying to create unnecessary distance,” she remarked.
Juhi also highlighted that their mother, Nadira Babbar, has always been supportive of Prateik. “Our mother has always stood by him. We don’t want to put him under any pressure. His first marriage didn’t work out, and now he has taken a new step. We just want him to be happy,” she added.
Priya Banerjee Responds to Family Speculations
Meanwhile, Priya Banerjee addressed the discussions surrounding Raj Babbar’s absence. In an interview, she dismissed the speculation, saying, “There was absolutely nobody missing from our wedding. Our close family members, including those who raised Prateik, were present. I don’t know why people are assuming otherwise.” She also explained why they opted for a small wedding, stating, “We wanted a simple, intimate ceremony surrounded by love and blessings. This was about us, not about making a grand statement.”
Despite the family’s absence from the celebrations, both Aarya and Juhi Babbar expressed hope that things would eventually improve. “Family is about understanding and patience. There will be more opportunities to celebrate together,” Juhi said. While the differences remain, the Babbar family seems open to reconnecting with Prateik in the future.
