Shakti, who entered Bollywood with Khel Khilari Ka, gained much reocgnition for his spectacular dance moves. Despite of portraying negative characters on screen, Shakti stood out to be one of the leading dancers of the Indian cinema. In an exclusive interview with Lehren, Shakti Kapoor revealed on how filmmaker Sunil Dutt, made it possible, for a villain to dance alongside the main hero of the film.
Shakti Kapoor Made Young Generation His Fans
While the tradition started with dancing opposite Sanjay Dutt in a disco-competition, it never stopped after that. Later in his career, Shakti Kapoor also shared dancing opportunites with vibrant actors like Jitendra and Mithoon. With the lively dance moves that Crime Master is loved for till present date, it is evident why he managed to attract a huge young-generation crowd back then, in the 80s. Giving all-praises to Mr. Sunil Dutt for taking the risk, Shakti Kapoor expressed that every actor portraying a negative role should get the chance to show their hidden skills. Instead, every actor, regardless of being a villain or an actor, should be trained professionally on how to dance, before joining the films.
Tuna Tuna Uncle
Revealing further, as Shakti states that a choreographer, or a dance director is the key behind any dancing actor’s success – he also reveals how he was being known as ‘Tuna Tuna uncle’ by children after his song Tuna Tuna Ta Ta Tuna came out. He also praised certain dancer ladies of the era, like Helen, Mumtaj and Padma Khanna for their evergreen performances.
