Movie Rating

In a nut-shell:

The Body- An Unimpressive thriller that doesn’t bring anything new to the table.

Cast: Emraan Hashmi, Rishi Kapoor, Sobhita Dhulipala

Directors: Jeethu Joseph

Producer: Sunir Kheterpal

The film is the remake of 2012 Spanish film with the same name. It begins with a missing dead body of hotshot businesswoman Maya Varma played by Shobhita Dhulipala. Maya is a rich yet lonely millionaire with a cold-hearted behaviour. She marries middle-class professor Ajay played by Emraan Hashmi who is a subtle man with charming looks and questionable morals.

After Maya is dead, and her dead body goes missing, Rishi Kapoor, who plays a cop tries to unfold their twisted married life. Though the film is spanned over a period of eight hours and tries to maintain the mystery, it tends to lose its grip over the audience way too early.

Vedhika plays a partner in crime and has a good screen presence, but she fails to impress in her character. Rishi Kapoor and Emraan Hashmi are convincing in their characters.

The saga of love, death and betrayal doesn’t offer anything new on-screen and looks like a half baked attempt.

The film has a decent background score that fits perfectly with the thriller genre of the film. The best part is the music and the catchy numbers that are soothing to the ears just like any other Emraan Hashmi films.
