Samantha Ruth Prabhu made a debut on the popular celebrity talk show Koffee with Karan before she could make a debut in Bollywood film, after appearing in Family Man 2. The actress featured alongside Akshay Kumar in the show hosted by filmmaker Karan Johar. The trio delivered an entertaining show spilling beans on personal and professional life.
The actress has immense popularity down in the South and has earned fame and recognition among the Hindi audience with her performance in Family Man 2. She also won million hearts with her sizzling hot look in the hit song of the year ‘Oo Antava’ from Pushpa. In a very short span, she made her mark across India. Talking about her married life, separation from Naga Chaitanya, and career in Bollywood Samantha also revealed what made her do Amazon Prime series Family Man 2.
Karan asked her the reason behind what attracted her to take up the role of the antagonist Raji in “The Family Man 2“ and whether it was an already existing camaraderie with Raj & DK. She replied: “No, I didn’t know, Raj & DK at all and even Family Man season 1 hadn’t released when I started shooting for season 2.”
She added, “So it was just this cry for a challenge because you know you get typecast with the roles that you are offered in the south, not because of any fault of theirs but directors saw me a certain way the bubbly cute, love interest and I was feeling stifled and I really wanted to breakthrough and here there was an opportunity to look at myself through another lens and I grabbed it… It was divine intervention.”
Family Man is an action thriller web series headlined by Manoj Bajpayee. It has launched 2 seasons so far and is streamed on Amazon Prime Video. The second season in which Samatha is featured as Raji also stars Manoj Bajpayee, Sharib Hashmi, and Priyamani in leading roles. The third installment of the show is expected to be released soon.
Samantha has multiple projects in her kitty including Citadel with Varun Dhawan, directed by Raj & DK.
