Actor Taher Shabbir Stands Firm: ‘No Vulgar Films’

Taher Shabbir Shares His Experience On Working With The Director And Star Cast Of His Upcoming Series 'Kaala'.

Taher Shabbir is a versatile actor who has showcased his talent in several Bollywood films and on OTT platforms. The actor made his film debut with the SRK-starrer ‘Fan’ and has also played significant roles in the movies ‘Naam Shabana’ and ‘Manikarnika’ alongside Taapsee Pannu and Kangana Ranaut. Tahir was also seen in popular OTT series like ‘Guilty’ and ‘Hundred’ and was a familiar face in the television industry as well, where he began his acting journey.

Shabbir’s web series ‘Kaala’ has recently been released and is receiving a positive response from the audience. In an interview with the media, Taher said, “It has been 2 weeks since the show was released, and viewers are showering lots of love. I receive around 5-10 appreciation calls daily from friends and family, and I feel blessed with the response. I thank my director Bijoy Nambiar for this creation and the people responsible for the casting, especially Shubham. We are nothing without our casting directors. I would also like to thank the audience for liking my work.”

When asked about his experience working with his co-stars Avinash Tiwary and Hiten Tejwani, the actor replied, “I would answer this question in just a single word – ‘Love.’ There’s a lot of love between us, even in a very short span of time.” The actor also added that he wants to play cricket in his free time but is failing due to its shortage. He wonders how other actors find time to play football and why they don’t call him to join.

Regarding his role and acting, Taher added, “Every role is challenging, and you need to empathize with the character to get into its skin. The character I’m playing in ‘Kaala’ is too dark and different in nature, and it took me 2 months to prepare for it.”

Answering questions about his future projects, Shabbir stated, “I don’t act in vulgar films and want to do meaningful cinema. I’m currently looking forward to my cameo in a ‘Dharma Productions’ film and may play a police cop’s character in a venture that I’m supposed to sign. These strong professional characters require double hard work for their execution.”

Taher also conveyed his desire to work with the late actor Dilip Kumar if he were still alive, whom he considers the only ‘Actor-Star.’ He also wants to collaborate with Amitabh Bachchan in any form of craft, whether acting, direction, or production. The actor also desired to cast his wife in leading roles for all of his projects but laughed about it, mentioning that his wife has no interest in acting.

‘Kaala’ is an 8-episode crime-thriller genre web series produced by T-Series streaming on ‘Hotstar.’
