Hollywood actress Scarlett Johansson has undoubtedly become one of the biggest stars in the industry. With a profound career graph and notable roles in top Hollywood films, including the Marvel Cinematic Universe, her talent has been widely recognised. However, behind the glitz and glamour, Johansson has faced her own set of struggles throughout her journey in showbiz.
Having entered the industry in 1994, Johansson’s breakthrough came in 2003 when she was awarded Best Actress for her remarkable performance in “Lost In Translation.” Despite her success, the actress recently revealed in a candid interview that she is not the highest-paid actress, even though she has appeared in some of the highest-grossing films.
Speaking to Marie Claire, Johansson addressed the issue of pay disparity in the industry, stating, “Just because I’m the top-grossing actress of all time does not mean I’m the highest paid. I’ve had to fight for everything that I have. It’s such a fickle and political industry.”
In addition to shedding light on the gender pay gap, Johansson also expressed her discomfort in sharing personal struggles in public. She highlighted the importance of recognising that women in all positions face challenges in the fight for equality. Johansson stated, “Maybe I’m being presumptuous, but I assumed it was obvious that women in all positions struggle for equality. It’s always an uphill battle and fight. My experience with my close female friends and family is that the struggle is real for everybody. Everyone has been discriminated against or harassed.”
Earlier in an interview, the actress known for her portrayal of Lucy shared her experience of being initially typecast into bombshell roles. However, she courageously defied the stereotype by opting for action and drama films.
