Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s “Heeramandi” Will NOT Have A Second Season

In a recent conversation, filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali revealed that his web series, "Heeramandi" will not have a second season to it.

Heeramandi garnered a lot of attention and buzz upon its release. Titled “Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar,” it delves into the power struggles among courtesans from Lahore, brought to life by the masterful direction of Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Featuring a stellar cast including Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, Sanjeeda Shaikh, Sharmin Segal, Aditi Rao Hydari, and Richa Chadha, this marks Bhansali’s debut in the OTT realm. The series premiered on Netflix on May 1st.

Heeramandi 2 Will Not Happen

Nevertheless, fans remain captivated by the stunning show and are eager to learn about the possibility of Heeramandi 2. Since the web series premiered, this question has been on everyone’s mind. However, a recent statement from Sanjay Leela Bhansali has left fans feeling perplexed and disheartened.

In a recent featurette unveiled on IMDB, the director provided a behind-the-scenes look at the sets of Heeramandi. He discussed the grandeur of the production and elaborated on the process of creating the series, highlighting the challenges and rewards. He expressed gratitude for completing the project despite its demanding nature.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali acknowledged the challenging nature of the project, stating that neither he nor anyone else could replicate Heeramandi, as such an endeavor occurs only once. This statement has led us to believe that season two is unlikely to happen.

He also expressed that when considering Heeramandi as a film, he deemed it too expansive and grandiose for the format. Therefore, they opted to develop it as a series instead. He further mentioned that the original plan was to create three or four large-scale films within the series.
