One more shocking piece of news from South Korea: singer Choi Sung-bong was found dead at his home in Seoul this morning. The cause of his death remains unknown, and police will conduct an investigation into the circumstances that led to his passing.
According to reports by several Korean media outlets, Choi Sung Bong was found in his home on June 20, after he uploaded a ‘farewell’ message on YouTube channel.
Police suspected that it may have been scheduled prior to him taking a decision; they suspected it was a suicide, though a postmortem has not yet been conducted.
In 2011, Choi Sung Bong enthralled viewers as a participant on the tvN audition programme “Korea’s Got Talent” with his tale of resiliency and perseverance. He had fled an orphanage when he was young and lived a hard life of manual labour, but he never gave up on his desire to be a singer. His story grabbed the attention of the audience all throughout the world, and he became the runner-up winner.
However, the musician was recently in the news for lying about having cancer, being terminally ill, and asking for money from the public for treatment.
