Urmila Matondkar Shares Cryptic Post: Ram Gopal Varma’s ganster drama Satya was released in the cinema hall on July 3, 1998; today marks 25 years since its release. In the film, J.D. Chakravarthy played the titular role, whereas Manoj Bajpayee, Saurabh Shukla, Urmila Matondkar, Shefali Shah, Makrand Deshpande, and Govind Namdeo were seen in pivotal roles.

As the film celebrated its 25th anniversary, actress-turned-politician Urmila shared some stills from the Satya film.

She recalled playing a simple and naive girl at the peak of her scintillating, glamorous career. In her cryptic post, she talked about ‘favourtism and nepotism.’

She expressed her disappointment over not receiving any recognition or any award for her film Satya. Urmila took to her Twitter handle and wrote, “25yrs of Satya n of playing simple naive chawl girl Vidya at the peak of an scintillating glamorous career. But NO what did that have to do with ‘acting’ .. so no awards n not even nominations. So sit down n don’t talk to me about favouritism n nepotism.”

One user wrote, “U were absolutely brilliant in d character of ‘Vidya’. Ur performance stood out. Especially d scene when d on screen mother offers u ‘Kheer’ & d dual reaction of Irritation & Anger was simply superb. Not to forget d facial expression when d truth abt Satya was revealed to u.”

The second user wrote, “I still remember the first time I watched this movie…the climax scene when Vidya finds out the truth and your acting was heart wrenching….awards aside, it was a performance that is still remembered after 25 years…”

The third user wrote, “25 Years! Masha’Allah… looking Beautiful, as always. Your acting in general and Satya in particular is awesome, your simplicity, your dignified desi look and innocence has left a long lasting impression in our. The Rangeela Girl role is also one of the Best. Thank You.”
