The Kerala Story Airs On Doordarshan Despite Protests By Congress

Despite protests by political party, Congress, Sudipto Sen's film, "The Kerala Story" was aired on Doordarshan on Friday.

Despite vehement protests from the ruling CPI(M) and Congress in Kerala, Doordarshan aired the controversial Bollywood movie ‘The Kerala Story’ on Friday. The film was broadcast on the autonomous public service broadcaster at 8 pm.

The youth wing of the Congress expressed strong opposition and organized a protest march to the Doordarshan office at approximately 8:30 pm to protest against the airing of the movie.

For the unversed, the film was released back in 2023, on 5th May. The movie received a positive response from the public and was later released on OTT platform ZEE5 on 16 February this year.

About The Kerala Story

Directed by Sudipto Sen and produced by Vipul Amrutlal Shah, the drama film, “The Kerala Story” stars Yogita Bihani, Adah Sharma, Siddhi Idnani, and Sonia Balani in the lead roles. The film was released on 5th May.

The movie’s storyline focuses on the forced & radicalization of women in Kerala. The movie reportedly claims that almost 32,000 women in the state were allegedly forced to convert to Islam while many were taken to “ISIS”.
