Sunny Deol is currently relishing the success of his latest film, “Gadar 2,” which is setting new records at the box office. However, in his recent interview with BBC Asia Networks, the actor spoke briefly about “Gadar 2” being called an anti-Pakistani film.
“See, it’s basically a political thing mostly. It’s not actually the people, genuine people, because at end of the day, it’s all humanity there. Whether it’s here or there (Pakistan), everyone’s together. And even you’ll see that throughout the film (Gadar 2), I never run anybody down, because I don’t believe in running people down or anything and Tara Singh (his character in Gadar 2) is not that kind of a person”, he said to BBC.
He further added “We all want peace, you know, and nobody wants all this thing to happen. But it’s high time the politicians started seeing the world not from [the point of view of votes] because everybody does it for the sake of votes… Don’t take this film so seriously… cinema comes in for entertainment. It’s not coming from any other point of view. And then obviously, there’s an exaggeration in cinema because that’s how you want the characters to be. If they’re not exaggerated, you don’t enjoy it. Because if a person is bad, you want to say no, he is bad. If a person is good, you want to see the person good. And that’s a certain sector of cinema.”
Sunny is also involved in politics and serves as an MP. He had previously announced that he wouldn’t contest elections., stating, “I don’t want to fight any elections. I believe my chunaav (election) will be as an actor. I think I’ll serve the nation as an actor which I’ve been doing. I have full confidence that what I can give to the youth, to the country, is being a good actor and bringing out good projects,” as quoted by India Today.
Regarding the movie “Gadar 2,” fans are eagerly awaiting the third installment, with indications from the makers that “Gadar 3” is in the works. During the success celebration of “Gadar 2,” director Anil Sharma offered some insights about the much-anticipated “Gadar 3.” He shared, “You’ll have to wait for that. Intezar ka fal meetha hota hai, just like this one (Gadar 2). Some thoughts have come to me and Shaktimaan Ji’s (writer of Gadar 2) minds. So just wait everything will happen,” revealing details to the present media at the event.
