When Salman Khan Revealed His Time In Jail: ‘It Was Fun And I Was Chilling, You Get Your Own Suite There’

In 2008 The Actor Of Ek Tha Tiger Humorously Shared His Experiences Of Being In Jail

Salman Khan has enjoyed a thriving career in Bollywood, and on Tuesday, the actor marked 35 years in the industry. However, the Dabangg actor has also faced numerous challenges both in his professional journey and personal life, whether it’s the break-up with Aishwarya Rai, the hit-and-run case, or the poaching case. He even had to spend several weeks in jail due to his legal matters.

In a 2008 interview with Koel Puri, the actor of Ek Tha Tiger humorously shared his experiences of being in jail. During the blackbuck case, when Salman was held at Jodhpur Central Jail, he candidly talked about the conditions inside the jail and how he spent his time there.

When Koel asked, “How was your time in jail?” Salman playfully responded, “It was fun.” He then burst into laughter when she replied, “Really?” She acknowledged that her question was likely to elicit such a response.

“I was blank. I was chilling. The only tension was the bathroom. That was it. [pause] And, the bin, and three, four times I have gone in and out of it. If someone wants to put you in, you go in quietly. When you know you haven’t done it, you go in head high,” he shared during the 2008 episode of “On the Couch with Koel.”

“When it comes to police custody here, yeah… There were around nine or ten rooms, with each room accommodating 9-10 people. Just one bathroom and toilet. So, that was… [rolls his eyes] Then there was the rest of the space in Central Jail. Once you’re transferred to judicial custody, you get your own ‘suite’ there [smiles].”

Salman continued by discussing the people he encountered and interacted with in prison: “Once a week. Then you get one qaidi who’ll give you chai in the morning. The same guy will come and get you the lunch. There’s one guard outside. You get this one mug, that you have your chai in and wash it. Then you have daal-chawal in it. You use it to take a shower. You use it to do whatever you wanna do.”

“In jail, I used to do a lot of push-ups and crunches. I would work out two times a day,” he added when asked how he passed his time while incarcerated.

On the work front, the actor is getting ready for the release of “Tiger 3,” which is scheduled to hit theaters in November. Alongside him, actress Katrina Kaif will be playing the leading lady in the movie.
