While the films later became a hit owing to the story and the cast members, however many of those blockbusters were initially offered to other celebrities. Here are the top 7 actors who rejected films that later became blockbuster hits at the box office-
- Ranveer Singh (Animal-Sam Bahadur)
Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s film Animal was initially offered to Ranveer Singh. Ranbir Kapoor’s role was offered to Ranveer Singh who denied the film saying the theme of the film was “too dark” for him. Ranveer also rejected Sam Bahadur since he had just featured in the biopic 83 and he didn’t want to do another biopic.
2. Parineeti Chopra (Animal)
Meanwhile, Rashmika Mandanna’s role was initially offered to Parineeti Chopra who rejected the offer since she already had a film with Imtiaz Ali.
3. Kareena Kapoor Khan-Sushant Singh Rajput (Ramleela)
Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s film Ramleela was initially offered to both Kareena Kapoor Khan and Sushant Singh Rajput. Deepika’s role was offered to Kareena however she rejected the film since the role did not interest her at all. On the other hand, Sushant rejected Ranveer’s role since he already had other films he was working on.
4. Shah Rukh Khan (3 Idiots)
Did you know that before Dunki, Rajkumar Hirani initially wanted Shah Rukh Khan to feature in his film, 3 Idiots? Starring Aamir Khan, the filmmaker offered the film to Shah Rukh who was not able to give the film a green signal due to date problems.
5. Hrithik Roshan (Baahubali)
Fighter actor Hrithik Roshan was initially offered S.S. Rajamouli’s film Baahubali. However, Hrithik rejected the film because he had just finished wrapping up Jodhaa Akbar, he wasn’t in a zone to take up another period drama.
6. Ranbir Kapoor (Dil Dhadkne Do)
Before Ranveer Singh, Animal actor Ranbir Kapoor was initially offered his role. His sister Kareena was also offered the role played by Priyanka. Ranbir initially said yes and then opted out due to a date clash with another project. Following him Kareena also dropped the project.
7. Deepika Padukone (Gangubai Kathiawadi)
Last but not least, Fighter actress Deepika Padukone was offered Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s film, Gangubai Kathiawadi before Alia Bhatt. At that time, Deepika was already committed to playing a gangster in Vishal Bhardwaj’s Sapna Didi alongside Irrfan Khan so she turned down Gangubai’s role as she didn’t want to do a similar role. However, the film was later shelved.
