People Doubted Siddharth Malhotra In Thank God, Says Director Indra Kumar

Thank God director Indra Kumar revealed people doubted Siddharth Malhotra to play a lead in the film alongside Ajay Devgn

Indra Kumar is gearing up for the release of his upcoming movie Thank God. The comedy-drama features Ajay Devgn, Siddharth Malhotra, and Rakul Preet Singh in lead roles. Recently the director revealed that he asked to think twice before casting Sidharth in Thank God.

The filmmaker is known for directing Dil, Beta, Ishq, Mann, and Aashiq among other romance dramas. Later he stepped into directing slapstick comedies like Masti, Grand Masti, Dhamaal, Double Dhamaal, and their franchise. One common actor to note in these films was Ritiesh Deshmukh. Hence people suggested Indra cast Ritiesh instead of Sidharth seeing their filmography.

In a recent interview with Siddharth Kannan, the filmmaker said even Sidharth would agree that Riteish is a better comedic actor. He continued saying, “What he has done in this film, the reactions, he’s done it beautifully. People would question me earlier, why him, can he do comedy? And I told them he could, 100%.” The interviewer asked, “People were doubting you?” To this, the director said pointing at Sid, “Not me, him, He’s never done comedy, he’s a sweet boy.”

The actor too added, “When you step into a new zone, this is bound to happen. In this film, we’re doing unusual scenes with the promise of full entertainment. I was very excited to do this. I had seen Indu ji’s films, and I knew that if I wanted to step into this genre, who better than him.”

We all know Ritiesh is best at his comic timing and punchlines also the humor he adds to films. On the other hand, Sidharth is best playing serious roles and lover boys, well he can be good at comedy too but audiences haven’t seen that side yet. It would be interesting to see Malhotra in this comedy-drama Thank God alongside Ajay Devgn.

Thank God is directed by Indra Kumar and produced by Bhushan Kumar and Krishan Kumar under the banner of TSeries and Maruti International. The family entertainer will be released in cinemas on October 25 and will clash with Akshay Kumar’s Ram Setu.
