When Manoj Kumar Got Angry At Moushumi Chatterjee While Shooting Roti Kapada Aur Makaan

In an exclusive interview, veteran actress Moushumi Chatterjee reveals that Manoj Kumar was very upset with her while filming "Roti Kapada Aur Makaan".

In 1974, legendary actor Manoj Kumar was seen sharing screen space with actress Moushumi Chatterjee in Roti Kapada Aur Makaan. The film written, directed and produced by the actor himself is considered one of the best Bollywood films of its era. Kumar brought together an ensemble cast including Amitabh Bachchan, Shashi Kapoor, Zeenat Aman, Moushumi Chatterjee, Prem Nath, Aruna Irani and Raza Murad. While shooting for the film, Manoj was very upset with Moushumi. The incident was recently shared by the actress herself during an exclusive interview with us.

Moushumi revealed that she was always a family-oriented person and never took her career seriously. While shooting for Roti Kapada Aur Makaan, the actress got pregnant, which upset Manoj Kumar. Moushumi recalled, “Manoj Kumar was very upset with me because I got pregnant during Roti Kapda aur Makaan. He gave the trophy to everyone except me.”

“My role got cut and he thought that I was very unprofessional,” Moushumi revealed.

She further told, “Shashi Kapoor told me this. He said that you have upset the entire industry, “Everyone got a trophy but you didn’t. Who’ll spend 20-30k on you?”

Moushumi also revealed that filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt also made a remark on her pregnancy. She told, “I never gave my 100% as an actress. Mahesh Bhatt once said that whenever your career goes up, you become pregnant. He said that these are the obstacles in my career. I corrected him and said that they added colors to my life.”

“I never thought that I had a career. I was never under any pressure because I already had what I wanted. I never valued my career and my stardom,” she said.

Roti Kapada Aur Makaan was a major commercial success. It was the highest grossing Indian film of 1974 and has been declared an all time blockbuster.
