From a director's point of view, Makhija has tried to show contradiction in society. He questioned the progress that India is making, the line between privileged and disadvantaged groups of society, the survival process of both groups.

‘Joram’, a film by Devashish Makhija starring one of the versatile actors in the film industry, Manoj Bajpayee, had its first Mumbai premiere at Jio MAMI Film Festival after many international premieres. Along with Manoj Bajpayee, Smita Tambe and Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub will be seen as prominent characters in the movie.

This movie is about a man who left his hometown because of his past and then returns because of the past only. It tells a story of a man who feels disconnected from his hometown through his memories and emotions. Manoj Bajpayee is playing the character of that man named Dasru. He, his wife Vaano along with their 3-month-older daughter are trying to survive in Mumbai after they left their native place. But their past comes tracing them and he has to lose his wife. But it becomes difficult for him to live in the system which is trying to crush him, so he ties his old daughter close to his chest and starts his journey as a refugee and somehow manages to settle in his hometown again, where he starts feeling everything unfamiliar.

While talking about this film at Jio MAMI Film Festival, Manoj Bajpayee said, “Our film is very special. One can watch this film with anyone, from a child to an old man. Because our film is the best.” Talking about this role and difficulties, he added, “I liked this script in the first place when I listened to it. But the major concern was it had to shoot with that 3-month-old baby girl. That was the toughest task. I had to handle that baby with care just like a father while being in my own character. Whenever I used to see her mother on the other side of the camera, my heart beats used to get faster with tension and care. But the whole team organized everything in a proper manner and the whole unit was taking care of that baby.”

When he was asked about the release date of the film, he chose to remain silent. He said that it would be announced soon. But there are chances that it might clash with Ranbir and Rashmika’s ‘Animal’.

This film doesn’t have an entertainment purpose only. But the movie will definitely make the audience think about the story and facts it is presenting.
